• 8+ Hours of Playtime combined on OuterWorlds
(your playtime can be checked by using "/playtime")
Hello everyone, I would like to thank you all for participating in the beta release of OuterWorlds. As a token of my gratitude, anyone that has played on OuterWorlds for over eight hours will be able to receive a free "Beta" tag from the link above. I appreciate all the feedback we have received from this release, and it has truly helped us move forward with development in a way I never thought we would. We have challenged ourselves this time around to make a bigger and better server, and we are seeing the fruits of that labor already with an active and consistent playerbase at pretty much all times of the day. It does not stop at that though, as I plan to keep doing my best to advertise as much as possible! If you currently play OuterWorlds, and you love the server, I ask you of one thing and that is not to give me your money in ranks, tags or whatever, but to simply share it with a friend. Even if that is just one friend, or your whole friends list on Discord.
I originally released OuterWorlds back in 2019, it was my very first time owning a server and I had no clue what I was doing honestly. I took over ownership of a server called PuffinPvP owned by a guy who didn't really know what he was doing either, but I had ideas, and inspiration and saw things he didn't. We went for a rebrand, and of that became OuterWorlds. No, we did not steal the name from the game OuterWorlds, probably more well known than this small Minecraft server (we actually had rights/access to the domain of outerworlds.us before the game the OuterWorlds game was announced), but besides that it was something I always dreamed of as a kid. One day, being able to own something that I could influence, build on and inspire others to do cool things as well. Countless hours, days in a row sometimes sitting working on some of the features you see in OuterWorlds. I sometimes stayed up for 30+ hours in a row just working on stuff, although it was very unhealthy, it is what I love to do, and if I had as many ideas/creations I wanted to make for OuterWorlds I would do just that all over again, although I think it is safe to say that the server itself is in a fairly stable state and is very unique in it's own ways.
After shutting down OuterWorlds in 2020, I opened a SMP called the "bored smp" which ended up being much more popular than I ever anticipated it to be, and with that I learned a lot of what I know today about developing servers. I am by no means a coder, but I assist a lot in the coding process/logic of how things will work and my developers have all been great to me in that aspect. I want to thank everyone who has got us to this point, and although the hard work is done, but the real work begins now. I need help from everyone, and anyone as I am just one human being. I do not make a living off this server, not even a profit. I will probably not ever break even with not only money, but with time as well. I have put personally +/-2000 hours into the development of this server, and I want to see it grow. Not to see money numbers, but player numbers. Seeing others that see what I see. My imagination, my dreams, and honestly my baby. I know it is cringe to say, but I truly care so much about this project.
I stopped hosting OuterWorlds twice, mainly due to money concerns, I was going all out on hosting and paying developers to do things I simply ran out of money. There was one point where I actually lost all the server files and had to redo the sever from scratch (a pain in the rear I literally cried about it, yes. I cried). I was putting huge chunks of my paychecks at 16 years old into the server, whether that be advertisements, server boosts, plugin development, admin support, server hosting, etc. I am at a point now where I know enough to do most of the stuff I paid for on my own, and I host the server from home right now so I do not pay a dime to host the server (W internet) and am looking forward to the day where I will no longer be able to host from home, where I will need an actual full blown datacenter server to host the server. If I am not paying anything to host, I am not going to sit here and ask money of anyone, that is why I have tried my best to make the server as non-P2W as possible, while still offering exclusive incentives to those who choose to donate to us. All I ask, as I said in the beginning, if you support this, if you support me, and want to help, the BEST thing you can do is send a friend a simple link:
